Founder & Head Coach
David Lowe
Four decades in retail automotive — from the showroom floor to the GM’s office to a Volkswagen Diamond Pin. This system didn’t come from a podium. David spent the ’90s on the road studying the best of the best — and distilled what top performers actually did into a system he then proved on his own floor.

The operator behind the system.
David Lowe is the founder of Automotive Sales Coach, with four decades in retail automotive operations and training. He has lived the business from every seat — the showroom floor, the desk, and the GM’s office.
Recruited by the national dealer-training company Half a Car, David trained stores across the country — and used that access to study the best of the best: top salespeople, GMs, and dealers. Three things separated them every time — a written game plan, deliberate skill practice, and the discipline to run it 100% of the time. He distilled those habits into a system and proved it himself, first on a used-car lot that moved 65 cars a month with three people.
As General Manager of Tom Wood Volkswagen in Indianapolis, David led the store to Volkswagen’s Diamond Pin in 2013 — Volkswagen’s highest global dealer honor, hand-selected by the Volkswagen Board in Wolfsburg, Germany, and awarded annually to only five U.S. dealerships and twenty worldwide. Eligibility requires sustaining Volkswagen’s Golden Pin level — itself the top tier — for a minimum of three consecutive years. The Diamond Pin doesn’t reward a single great year. It rewards a system that runs.
At its peak, that store was running at roughly 6× the national average for Volkswagen franchises. The Diamond Pin was the recognition; the system was what got him there — the same system David built into The Dealership Playbook.

“We built The Dealership Playbook because we got tired of watching good leaders struggle with bad systems — and watching salespeople with real talent wash out because nobody fanned their flame.”
